Christ the King offers all the support and assistance possible in making your wedding a joyful and rewarding experience. It is our belief that in a Celebration and Blessing of Marriage, the Christian family gathers to celebrate and ask God’s blessing upon the commitment by which a man and a woman pledge a life-long union in the creation of a healthy relationship. The reason for making this public and solemn covenant in the Church is to recognize that such a relationship is built only with the help of God.
Weddings are usually held on Saturdays, between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Dates should be set at least 90 days in advance. A License will need to be obtained from Harris County at least 30 days before the marriage.
The marriage ceremony is a worship service. Marriage is a sacrament of the Church and takes place in the context of worship. Music, dress, decorations, readings and photographs should all be appropriate for a traditional worship service. Holy Communion is usually a part of the service but it is optional.
About Christ the King Episcopal Church
Welcome to Christ the King Episcopal Church’s Website. We are happy to greet you into our family of faith. We are a Mission outpost in the Diocese of Texas within the Episcopal Church, which itself is a member of the Anglican Communion. We are a multicultural congregation with a sense of community and family. Our worship is enhanced by praise and Worship.
Our mission is to share the unconditional love of God with all people. We are made up of people from different parts of the World, yet united in common beliefs, love, strength and dignity. Our cultural diversity is our strength. We welcome and accept persons churched and unchurched. We are here to provide shelter in the storm, and continued renewing of the Holy Spirit.
Episcopal Church services are liturgical and the Book of Common Prayer is used for all services allowing you to follow along and participate through the services. Our style of worship is diverse, dignified and beautiful to both the eyes and the ears often accompanied by the African drums, keyboard and piano. It blends the culture and music of people from Africa, the Caribbean, and the African American Spiritual songs. The 1982 Episcopal Hymn book is widely used.
Should any member in good standing require applying for license to be a worship leader, please contact Buzz Goins at 713-299-5941. License will be requested from the diocesan bishop for those who successfully complete the training sessions.
